This is a large tree with great presence. The tree was collected in Texas in the mid '80s. The collecting story, told by a Texan, included encounters with rattlesnakes, cottonmouths, coral snakes, and copperheads (remember, I said "Told by a Texan"). In any case it was shortened about 6" by earthlayer. The tree looks old, is very healthy, and has some celebrity status. It's been featured on HGTV, PBS, and pictured in the ABS book, North American Bonsai. The pot is by Sara Rayner. I started styling the tree in the early '90s. It has become a treasured part of my collection, but, it's time for it to go to someone else who will appreciate it.
